Protect your skin throughout Winter!

Now that the holidays are over, and as we welcome in the New Year, we seriously need to reconsider our Skin Care routine. We’re in the dead of winter, and winter weather is not fun for our skin. Cold weather and low humidity levels result in dry air. Without immediate care, dry skin can lead to cracking and flaking. Additional moisture helps, but we need to do even more to keep our skin healthy. Here are a few tips to continue glowing throughout the winter months:

WASH IN LUKEWARM WATER

Hot showers and baths always feel amazing in the winter, however, using hot water on your skin can strip away protective oils. Choose lukewarm water, particularly when washing your face and hands, to protect your skin from over drying.

CHANGE YOUR CLEANSER

Although foaming cleansers result in a squeaky clean feeling, they often leave skin dry, particularly in the winter when your skin doesn’t produce much oil. Switching to a cream, oil, or milk cleanser in winter can help keep your skin from drying out. Be sure to steer clear of cleansers containing salicylic acid, which is harsh and irritating to the skin. We love NIA24’s Gentle Cleansing Cream for a smooth creamy cleanser. EXFOLIATE

Use a gentle exfoliator to remove dead skin cells, which tend to stick around and clog pores. MOISTURIZE

To keep your skin looking healthy and radiant in the dry winter air, you’ll need to switch out your light moisturizing lotions for richer creams. Adding a toner or hydrating serum to your Skin Care routine will also go a long way toward maintaining soft, supple skin during the winter months.
